Erbil Customs Directorate: If you wish to travel to Turkey or Iran in your own car, your process begins here. A vehicle registration booklet, similar to a passport, will be issued for your car, valid for one, two, or three years, according to your preference. The fees are as follows: 100,000 Iraqi dinars for one year, 140,000 for two years, and 180,000 for three years. The process takes approximately two hours. At the entrance of the directorate, there is a booth for a local contractor where you can easily obtain car insurance, a translation of the annual registration, and a driver's license.

The customs departments are among the worst service departments in Kurdistan, and even at border crossings, the management is poor, the bureaucracy is annoying, and it's underdeveloped.

The definition of awful is this place... very dirty, very crowded.
